Can’t login to MSN Messenger from Blackberry, iPhone or Empathy Client

without comments

For the last 6 months, since i’ve changed my passwords, i haven’t been able to login to MSN messenger (which is still useful for me) from any client EXCEPT from the website hotmail.com.

Today I figured out why only hotmail.com accepted my password, but not any other client.  It is because the html login form on hotmail.com has a 16 character limit.  My password is 19 characters.   So every time i typed into the hotmail login form, I thought I was typing my 19 character password, when in actuality, the form was dropping all characters beyond 16, before successfully logging in.

When i type in my 19 character password into empathy client, blackberry msn client, ipad amessenger client, it doesn’t cut off characters beyond 16, and hence authentication fails.

When I typed the first 16 characters of my password, everythign worked fine.

Negate icon colors with ImageMagick/Linux

without comments

Someone else wrote this, but it’s so awesome i have to save it here

Batch convert glyphish.com icons to white (Linux)

in jQuery Mobile •  15 days ago
I just thought I’d share this conversion method that I came up with using ImageMagick. Change to the directory containing your icons and then run this.
Copy code
  1. mkdir white;
  2. ls | grep -iE png$ | xargs -i convert {} -negate -level 0,0,0 white/{};
ls | grep -iE png$ finds all png extensions
xargs -i replaces all occurrences of {} with each image name
negate inverts the colours
The icons are originally around #444 so inversion then requires a level shift to move them to #fff instead of #aaa;
